The New York City area is seeing a wet and cloudy weekend, and the CBS News New York First Alert Weather Team has declared Saturday a First Alert Weather Day because of steady rain across the region.

Saturday Night Forecast

Rain will continue through Saturday night and may become heavy at times in some areas. People living in and around New York City should expect wet roads, slower travel, and cloudy skies for most of the evening.

In higher elevations north of the city, especially in colder areas, a little snow may mix with the rain.

Temperatures will stay cool overnight, with lows mostly in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Sunday Forecast

A few leftover showers may continue early Sunday morning, but most of the rain should end by sunrise.

After that, skies will slowly begin to clear, and the weather will improve through the day. Sunday afternoon is expected to be calmer, drier, and more comfortable for outdoor plans.
